Amsterdam is the cultural centre of the Netherlands. It is, and always has been a melting pot of different cultures from all over the world. The local Lindy Hop scene is a great representation of this with around half of the ‘local’ dancers being expats.
If you find yourself with a few extra days before or after the festival, we can guarantee you’ll have a great time exploring the cities many museums, galleries, parks, and any other…amenities you could probably think of.
The city is very compact, and cycling is by far the easiest way to get around, so we highly recommend you hire a bicycle. Keep in mind however that all the parties and workshops are in the east, so we encourage you to find accommodation on that side of the city.
This will be Smokey Feet’s 9th year running! It’s the Netherlands largest and longest festival. There will be a total of 5 parties (including the pre and after parties), workshops with international teachers, a mix of local and international bands, and a whole lot of fun.
When you’re taking a break from the dance floor at the parties, there will be several shops set up, as well as a bar. So there will be plenty for you to do while you’re taking a breather.
Smokey Feet is being organised for its fourth year by Yara, Sanne, and Hákon. We’d also like to introduce Ben, who is a new addition to the team for this year.
All four of us are teachers in the local scene in Amsterdam, so if you see us at the parties, feel free to come up and say hi!
We’re supported by a great team of volunteers every year, so if you’re keen to help out, please let us know!
